前  言

Preface

国色·九歌是以影像方式展示中国传统文化中的国花——牡丹的存在状态、生命历程和视觉感受的展览。

牡丹虽为一种植物,但它有生命象征的意义;虽已为国画所反复描摹,但其内在特征和充满活力的结构,对大众而言依然陌生。本展以摄影刻光的方式、以相机柳叶刀般精确刻画和金刚手般抓取物性的能力,打开了国色牡丹的花之蕊、开掘出天香花后的诗之魂,追溯出洛阳花存在过程的生死观。这是对生命意义最隆重的礼赞,是在中国人心目中代表性的花儿身上体现中华美学精神的一项具体实践。

王昆峰先生展出《花语》《花容》《花魂》《花姿》《花梦》《花咏》6系列近80作品“微距抽象”和“超写实”的视觉呈现方式,进行打开物性的超视觉影像探索。他采用1亿和1.5亿像素相机,加持焦点堆栈方式,从高品质数字影像到大幅面宝丽来成像,媒介语言不断突破,拍摄内容全新拓展,诗意展现了牡丹花从繁盛到干枯,直到最后化腐朽为永恒的全过程。这样的创作思路,突破生命时间的局限,找到美的新坐标,揭示微观世界中的抽象、隐秘与繁华,现牡丹在生命不同阶段的姿、傲骨和魄。

王昆峰先生用四十多年时间以影像的方式对牡丹花儿生命历程的执著跟踪,是他用大半生对牡丹花儿庄严的艺术呈现。如果以阿洛伊斯• 李格尔的艺术意志来衡量他的摄影之路,我不知道是表现牡丹的艺术自律在指引着他的摄影道路,还是他的摄影意志控制了表现牡丹的形式不断前行。总之,他拍出了牡丹春风摇曳中、秋风萧瑟里和严冬封地上的花之魂魄、美之流年

我相信,很多人会喜欢他的作品,因为这种美不同于以往,一直藏在物中、活在人心中,现在被挖掘出来、被点亮了。

王昆峰,19523月生于河南延津。中国摄影家协会会员。1969年加入中国人民解放军,18年军旅人生后转业至河南洛阳市工作、生活至今。

1976年起,王昆峰在部队从事新闻摄影工作八余年,由此与摄影结缘。1979年他参与《解放军画报》建国三十周年专题报道,以《祖国万岁—庆祝中华人民共和国成立三十周年》为题,发表牡丹摄影作品,从而开启了牡丹题材的创作。王昆峰扎根在第二故乡——洛阳,在“牡丹”艺术创作的高峰上执着攀登、探索。他的作品在视觉语言上从具象走向抽象,在媒介语言上从数字技术走向传统工艺,唯一不变的是他的艺术主题——生命哲学的领悟与思辨。

走过四十多年摄影人生的倾心旅程,王昆峰的“牡丹”系列作品获得了丰富的成果:2005年出版《天地之约》艺术画册、2008年出版《国色天香》艺术画册;2008年在洛阳美术馆举办“国色天香”摄影个展;2018年在文化和旅游部恭王府博物馆举办“照地初开锦绣段”摄影个展;2018年摄影个展应邀参加“首届吴印咸摄影艺术双年展”、“第二届“郎静山杯”新画意摄影双年展”;2023年个展应邀参加“第六届深圳国际摄影大展”。20245月在北京中国美术馆举办“国色·九歌——王昆峰影像艺术展”,王昆峰“牡丹”主题的近百幅作品以专题、专版形式刊登在《中国摄影家》《中国摄影》《摄影世界》《艺术交流》《中国艺术报》《中国摄影报》《人民摄影》等各大摄影专业刊物。

PREFACE

"National Beauty·Nine Songs" is an exhibition that showcases the existence, life journey, and visual experience of the national flower of traditional Chinese culturethe peonythrough visual imagery.

Although the peony is a plant, it carries symbolic meaning of life. Despite being repeatedly depicted in traditional Chinese painting, its intrinsic characteristics and dynamic structure remain unfamiliar to the general public. This exhibition, through the precise depiction and the ability to capture the essence of nature with the light of photography and the precision of a scalpel, opens up the stamen of the national beauty peony, unearths the poetic soul of the celestial fragrant flower, and traces the life and death view of the existence of Luoyang flowers. This is a solemn tribute to the meaning of life, a specific practice that embodies the spirit of Chinese aesthetics in the representative flowers in the hearts of the Chinese people.

Kunfeng Wang presents nearly 80 works in six series titled "Flower Language," "Flower Appearance," "Flower Soul," "Flower Posture," "Flower Dream," and "Flower Ode," using a visual presentation method of "macro abstraction" and "hyper-realism" to conduct a super-visual image exploration of the essence. He uses a 100 million and 150 million pixel camera, combined with focus stacking, from high-quality digital images to large-format Polaroid imaging, continuously breaking through the medium of language, expanding the new shooting content, and poetically presenting the entire process of the peony flower from prosperity to withering, until it transforms decay into eternity. This creative approach breaks through the limitations of life's time, finds new coordinates of beauty, reveals the abstract, hidden, and prosperous aspects of the microcosm, and displays the charm, pride, and soul of the peony at different stages of life.

Kunfeng Wang has dedicated over forty years to the persistent tracking of the life journey of the peony flower through visual imagery, which constitutes the solemn artistic presentation of the peony flower in his lifetime. If we measure his photographic journey with the "Kunstwollen" of Alois Riegl, I do not know whether it is the artistic self-discipline of the peony guiding his photographic path, or his photographic will controlling the continuous progress of presenting the form of the peony. In any case, he captures the soul of the peony in the spring breeze, the desolation in the autumn wind, and the sealed land in the severe winter, as well as the beauty of the passing years.

I believe that many people will appreciate his work because this beauty is different from the pastit has always been hidden in objects and lived in the hearts of people, and now it has been unearthed and illuminated.

ABOUT ARTIST
 

Kunfeng Wang, male, born in 1952 in Yanjin County, Henan Province. Member of the China Photographers Association (CPA). In 1969, he joined the People's Liberation Army of China and after 18 years of military life, he transitioned to work and live in Luoyang, Henan. Since 1976, Kunfeng Wang has been engaged in news photography in the army for over eight years, which led to his affinity with photography. In 1979, he participated in the special coverage of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China for the Liberation Army Pictorial and published peony photographic works under the title "Long Live the Motherland - Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China", thus opening up the creation of peony-themed works. Kunfeng Wang rooted himself in his second hometown - Luoyang, persistently climbing and exploring the peak of "peony" artistic creation. His works have transitioned in visual language from concrete to abstract, and in medium language from digital technology to traditional craftsmanship. The only constant is his artistic theme - the comprehension and speculation of the philosophy of life.

After more than 40 years of dedicated journey in photography, Kunfeng Wang's "peony" series has achieved rich results: in 2005, the publication of the art album "The Covenant of Heaven and Earth", in 2008, the publication of the art album "National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance"; in 2008, he held the "National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance" photography solo exhibition at Luoyang Art Museum; in 2018, he held the "The Splendid Section of the First Blossom" photography solo exhibition at the Prince Kung's Palace Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; in 2018, his solo exhibition was invited to participate in the "First Wu Yinxian Photography Art Biennial Exhibition" and the "Second Lang Jingshan Cup New Pictorial Photography Biennial Exhibition"; in 2023, his solo exhibition was invited to participate in the "6th Shenzhen International Photography Exhibition". Nearly a hundred works of Kunfeng Wang,'s "peony" theme have been published in special editions in major professional photography publications such as Chinese Photographer, Chinese Photography, Photography World, Art Exchange, Chinese Artists Newspaper, China Photography News, and People's Photography Newspaper.
